On behalf of our client, Talents Nexus is seeking a skilled and proactive Manager of the Biomedical Engineering Department to lead the biomedical operations at a premier international hospital in Basra. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safety, availability, and performance of all medical technologies across the hospital. The successful candidate will oversee a team of biomedical engineers and technicians, manage high-value medical equipment, and play a key role in supporting clinical operations through innovation and technical excellence.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Technical and Operational Leadership:
Plan, organize, and supervise all biomedical engineering activities, including installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of medical devices.
Maintain an updated inventory of all medical equipment and ensure preventive and corrective maintenance schedules are followed.
Ensure operational readiness and minimal downtime for all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment.
Compliance and Quality Management:
Ensure all equipment and procedures comply with national and international standards (e.g., CE, ISO 13485, FDA).
Develop and enforce biomedical safety protocols and maintenance procedures.
Lead internal audits, manage documentation, and prepare for external inspections or certifications.
Team Management and Development:
Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of biomedical engineers and technicians.
Provide training and support to clinical users on medical equipment.
Foster a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement within the department.
Strategic and Financial Oversight:
Manage department budgets, procurement plans, vendor relations, and service contracts.
Evaluate new technologies and participate in equipment selection and commissioning processes.
Collaborate with hospital leadership on strategic planning, infrastructure projects, and technology upgrades.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or Electronics Engineering (with a healthcare focus).
Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role in a hospital or medical environment.
Skills and Expertise:
Deep understanding of hospital medical devices (imaging, monitoring, surgical, lab, ICU, etc.).
Strong troubleshooting and project management skills.
Familiarity with CMMS/LIMS systems and asset tracking software.
Excellent communication skills in English (Arabic is a strong advantage).
Preferred:
Experience working in an international hospital or multicultural setting.
Certifications in medical equipment safety and management (e.g., CBET, HTM standards).
